Getting your home ready to sell can be a daunting task, and can make you feel stuck on where to start. I compiled a list of some essential household chores that need to be completed before you can get your home on the market. So hopefully this can bring you peace and maybe even spark your memory on some things you may have forgotten to do! This will be a two part post, the first focusing on the exterior of your home. So let’s get started!!
- Remove all clutter from your front and backyards
This may seem small, but it will make you feel so relieved and will allow you to start with a clean slate.
- Look at all your windows
Do you need new screens, shutters or replacement windows? All these things can make your home increase in value. Especially with the beautiful outdoors San Diego offers, it is crucial that windows are sparkling and let in lots of light.
- Pressure wash your driveway and any walkways up to your home
Doing this makes buyers more drawn to your house as they drive up. Blemishes draw attention away from the beauty of a house, so get rid of them!
- Look up…do you need any new or replacement shingles?
This is a component that is easily missed, but it is still important for curb appeal.
- Landscaping is so so important!
Give your lawn a fresh mow, spruce up your flower beds with pops of color and get rid of any weeds. Especially in San Diego, buyers are very swayed by outdoor living and landscaping.
- Make sure all your electrical features are working
This includes light fixtures, door bell, security system, and the garage.
- Small finishing touches are key
Give your front door and mailbox a fresh coat of paint, and replace any door knobs that look worn down.
- Last but not least…CLEAN!
Wash those windows, clean out the gutters, and wipe down any major stains on the exterior of your home.
Check back next week when we dive into all the tasks to complete on the interior of your home to get it selling ready!
