South Bay is the area of San Diego located south of downtown and north of the Mexico boarder. This is truly the gateway to Baja California with some of the best Mexican food this side of the border!
Barrio Logan, the neighborhood just southeast of downtown is the epicenter of Hispanic culture in San Diego. In addition to the amazing food and community, it is home to Chicano Park with the largest concentration of Chicano Murals in the world (more than 80 paintings on seven acres).
The South Bay is also known for its outdoor adventures, including great surfing, sports fishing, biking, and beach volleyball. The Bayshore Bikeway is one of the most beautiful bike paths in California. This 10- mile tree lined path has stunning views of San Diego Bay and Silver Strand State Beach and also borders the National Wildlife Refuge, a 3,940-acre wetland sanctuary for endangered and migrating birds.
The South Bay is an easy drive from Downtown San Diego and is a great place for families wanting to enjoy the outdoors combined with true San Diego culture.
